I began a personal transformation journey 16 months ago. Originally my intention was a 3-month sabbatical from my home town of Cape Town in South Africa to the city of Santiago in Chile. Because I love my work as an Executive and Leadership Coach, I didn’t want to leave it behind. Thanks to a handful of adventurous clients who agreed to travel with me – so to speak – and continue with me in virtual coaching partnerships, I have been able to better and better hone my virtual coaching skills and build an almost 100% virtual coaching practice. My clients and I love it! I have also had the great privilege of working in a Leadership Cross-Culural Coaching program here in Chile. More, I have traveled to Peru and Uruguay meeting with the coaching communities in these countries and delivering Personal Branding workshops in Lima and Montevideo. More recently, I have worked with a groups of women from all across North and South America in a Personal Branding workshop here in Santiago de Chile on behalf of an Australian Mining company.
In this video clip interview for The Women Who Make Things Happen Show, I share my journey with my colleague AnYes Van Rhijn. I talk about the practises that helped me to find the courage to walk the path. I talk about fear and our need to befriend it. I speak from the heart, which I hope will touch your heart too:
Virtual Coaching is not very different to face-to-face coaching. We see each other in our webcams, which I consider face-to-face. We both get to avoid the traffic and coach in the comfort of our own homes or offices. Our process has no less vigour and our focus is always on what you want to achieve as the best outcomes for your coaching investment. As alternatives to Skype, I also work with my clients in email-only coaching partnerships and, if it interests you, in text-based coaching also. The gift of technology provides wonderful alternatives to traditional face-to-face coaching. Please be in touch if you’re ready to explore a progressive coaching relationship.
I love to stay connected with clients, colleagues and friends in the social media space. Here are some of the links you can use to connect with me:

Hi Michelle, I have been following your journey via FB with great interest and admiration. In my younger days I have been something of a gipsy and seen a fair part of this beautiful planet we live on. Latin America is quite foreign to me. I attended a conference in Mexico City in 1979 (before you were born) and visited Rio and the Iguazu waterfalls on that occasion. Despite my love of traveling, I am not sure whether I could do it as lightly as you do. I love my books and my everyday things and would possibly miss them. On top of it, I am engaged in change activities, NNI, U-theory, particularly pertaining to this country which gives me the opportunity for paying back and making a difference. SA, in my opinion, deserves much better than what it presently gets. This, however, requires an engaged citizenry and that is what I am, with a few others, try to engender. It is also a journey of some sort, and takes me mentally into new territory and new learning. I am blessed that I can still do this and hope that I will enjoy trekking this course for some time to come.
I’m touched that you left this comment Hermann. And I read with such joy about you own gipsy days. I watch the work you are doing and am in awe. South Africa is blessed to have such a caring and conscious citizen and coach in her midst. Please keep us the very good work you do!!
